Has anyone heard about Mafalda?!A character supposed to be worldwide known?!
For some reason this character has always been part of my life...I have found her fascinating due to her ideals and the way she sees life.

She was once described by Umberto Eco:
" an irascible heroine that rejects the world how it is claiming her rights to carry on being a little girl that does not want be in
charge of an adulterated universe made by the parents"

She is not like any other girl, she is humble and commited with the etnics, she is worried about the world and does not understand why the adults do everything so wrong. She is famous due to her questions, the innocence of her world and the depth of her ideals.
Her comments and ideas are the mirror of the social and politic anxiety of the sixties in Argentina. Mafalda represents the nonconformist humanity. Her hates are war, injustice, nuclear weapons, racism, the absurd adult conventions, and of course soup. Hehehe she detests soup. And her passions are The Beatles, peace, democracy and human rights. And I feel somewhat like her because I have the same passions and same hates.
Tireless social fighter, transmittes political declarations from her tiny chair. Her creator Quino thinks about the worlds situations and the people that live in it.

I find her little world an amazing place... its a shame that this tiny character is just the imagination and creation of one of the best Argentinian animators there have been.

If any of you get to read some please do. If you go to this website www. mafalda.net/sp/comic.php
there are some comic strips of the charater but obviously in the original language, Spanish.

After the desastrous coup d´etat against Alfonsos government in 1975 Quino draws Mafalda saying:
"Yes to democracy!!!"
"Yes to justice!!"
"Yes to freedom!!"
"Yes to life!!"

VIVA MAFALDA!!!!!!

CUANDO TODO ESTA PERDIDO SIEMPRE QUEDA UNA SALIDA.

"My words are like the stars that never change.
Every part of this earth is sacred for my people, every bright pine needle, every sandy beach, every fog in the dark forest, every clearing in the forests, every insect that buzzes is sacred, for my people’s thoughts and feelings.
The sap that go up the trees, brings memories to the Red Indians.
Our dead people never forget this beautiful Earth, because it’s the mother of the Red Indian.
We are part of the Earth and she is part of us. The sweet smelling flowers are our sisters, the deer, the horse, the great eagle, are our brothers. The mountains, the fields, the warm body of the foal and the man, all belong to the same family."

The Chief Seattle, the Great Chief of the Duwamish, gave this answer to the Great Chief of the white men about buying the land.
<< My words are like the stars……>>. He said.
His people didn’t survive, his words were not listened.
Will we listen now?
Will we survive?
A message of peace…it was!!!

“This we know; The earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth. This we know, all things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected”
--Chief Si’ahl, Namesake of the City of Seattle

--------------------------------------------------------

I just have one thing to say......Sergei I love you...but that will never leave my friends away from me.....no way!!!!They are the biggest treasure ever....but I guess not many of them think the same.!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps you think the Creator sent you here
to dispose of us as you see fit.
If I thought you were sent by the Creator,
I might be induced to think you had a right to dispose of me.
Do not misunderstand me, but understand fully
with reference to my affection for the land.
I never said the land was mine to do with as I choose.
The one who has a right to dispose of it is
the one who has created it.
I claim a right to live on my land
and accord you the privilege to return to yours.
Brother, we have listened to your talk
coming from
the father in Washington,
and my people have called upon me to reply to you.
And in the winds which pass through these aged pines
we hear the moaning of their departed ghosts .
And if the voices of our people could have been heard,
that act would never have been done.
But alas, though they stood around,
they could neither be seen nor heard.

Their tears fell like dorps of rain.
I hear my voice in the depths of the forest,
but no answering voice comes back to me.
All is silent around me.
My words must therfore be few.
I can say no more.
He is silent, for he has nothing to answer
when the sun goes down.

I have is the title of the song!!!And I really like it...!!
